Two young girls laughing as they balance with arms out on a fallen log in the woods
But have you seen what’s possible?

Does any of this happen in your house?

Take a moment. Which of these do you recognise?

Do you hear yourself saying “sit properly” at every single meal?

Does homework end with them slumped over the table, head propped on one hand?

Do they trip, bump into things or avoid the climbing frame?

Did riding a bike take far longer than it did for other children?

Do they lose their place when reading, or tire quickly copying from the board?

Does every school report say some version of “needs to focus”?

If you nodded along to even two of these, keep reading. There’s a reason, and it isn’t what most people think.

It’s not behaviour. It’s a skill.

We often treat wriggling, slumping and losing focus as behaviour problems. Reward charts. Reminders. Taking away screens. And when those don’t work, it’s easy to feel like you’re doing something wrong.

Here’s what nobody tells you. Sitting still is a skill. So is balance. So is keeping your eyes on a line of text.

These skills are built by a part of the brain called the cerebellum. We call it the little brain. It quietly keeps your child upright, steady and coordinated, so the rest of the brain is free to listen and learn.

When the little brain hasn’t fully caught up, your child has to work hard just to hold themselves still. All that effort leaves less for focusing.

They’re not being difficult. They’re still learning. And the little brain learns through movement.

That’s the good news. The right kind of movement, done little and often, can help it catch up. You don’t need a clinic for that. You need a plan you can follow at home.

Now imagine four weeks from now

Every child moves at their own pace. But these are the moments parents tell us they start to notice.

Dinner

Sitting through a meal without sliding off the chair.

Homework

Getting started, staying upright and actually finishing.

The playground

Running over to join in, instead of hanging back.

Confidence

A child who starts to believe “I can do this.”

Try one tonight, free

Here’s the first activity from the guide. It takes 2 minutes and it will tell you a lot.

Illustration of a child doing the Flamingo Stand, balancing on one leg with arms out

The Flamingo Stand

  1. Ask your child to stand tall with their arms out like wings.
  2. Lift one foot and rest it against the other leg, at the ankle or knee.
  3. Hold as still as a statue for up to 30 seconds. Then swap legs.

Lots of wobbling, hopping or grabbing for the wall? That’s a clue the little brain could use some support. The guide shows you exactly what to do next.

Four activities a week, about 10 minutes a day. We’ve already chosen them, so there’s no planning.

Track and notice

Tick off each day, then redo the checklist at the end of week 4 and compare.

From our family to yours

We’re Adi and Dana Latter, the founders of Hopeful Neuron in Mill Hill, London.

Before we ever worked with other families, we were parents in the waiting room. Our child was nonverbal. We tried a lot, and not everything was worth the time or the money.

What finally made the difference wasn’t one big breakthrough. It was small, simple activities, done every single day. That’s exactly what this guide gives you.

“We remember wondering if our child would ever speak. Small things, done every day, changed everything. That’s what we want for your family.”Adi & Dana

What parents tell us

“We actually stuck with it!”

We’ve tried quite a few home programmes before and usually lose interest after a week 😂. This one was different because it’s so simple. We’ve been doing it after dinner and my son actually reminds me sometimes. I think the biggest thing for me is that it doesn’t feel like therapy, we’re just playing together.
Sarah, mum of a 9 year old, UK

“I wish I’d had this earlier”

I really liked the checklist at the beginning. It made me realise how many little things my daughter was struggling with that I’d just accepted as “that’s how she is”. The activities are easy enough to do at home and I don’t need to spend loads of money buying equipment. We’re still working through it but I’m really enjoying doing it with her.
Jen, mum of a 6 year old, Texas, USA

“Don’t expect miracles overnight”

Just wanted to say this has been really helpful for us. We definitely haven’t managed every day and some days my son absolutely refuses 😂. But we’ve just carried on the next day rather than giving up completely. I’ve noticed he seems more confident with some of the movement activities and he loves the poi. It’s given us something positive to work on together without adding loads more stress to our day.

Questions parents ask

Do I need any special equipment?

No. You need a bit of floor space, some masking tape, an old long sock and a tennis ball or a pair of rolled up socks. That’s it.

Does my child need a diagnosis?

No. If you’re seeing things that worry you, that’s enough. The guide is for any parent who wants to help their child build balance, coordination and focus at home.

How much time does it take?

About 10 to 15 minutes a day. Pick 3 or 4 activities and rotate them through the week. Little and often beats an hour once a week.

What if my child finds the activities hard?

Every activity has an easier version. Start there, keep it playful and stop while it’s still fun. Success comes first, then challenge.

Is this instead of therapy?

No. The guide is a practical home programme. It isn’t a diagnosis or medical advice, and it works alongside any support your child already has.

My child has additional needs. Will this work for them?

Yes. We wrote it with children with additional needs in mind. There’s a full page of tips for low muscle tone, sensory sensitivities and children with few words, picture cards for visual schedules, and an easier version of every activity. Go at your child’s pace.

How do I get it?

We email it to you straight after checkout, with a printer friendly version too. Read it on your phone or tablet, or print the pages you need.

What if it’s not right for us?

You’re covered by our 30 day promise. Email [email protected] within 30 days and we’ll refund you in full.
